A number representing the difficulty of a golf course for a player of superior skill. A course's rating will typically be somewhat close to its par value. A course with a par of 72 might have a rating of 70.8. Ratings are always expressed with one decimal digit.
This number has significance only when calculating handicaps.
Rating is typically used in conjunction with another number, called the Course Slope.
